Seminarians unbox communicative skills in PPT competition

Chandigarh, 28 Nov, 2014

Brother Manu Maprayil and Bro. Shejin Puthanpurayil, both students of Ruhalaya Theological Seminary, Ujjain shared the first price in first ever power point competition for Seminarians held for year 2014.

The participants were given the task of translate any one of the last ten World Communications Day messages from various Popes without losing the authenticity of the message but including their own interpretations in it.

Manu Maprayil who selected the theme “Silence and Word: Path of Evangelisation” the 2012 Message by Pope Benedict XVI, did an excellent job by bringing out all its main aspects into the ppt presentation, commented the jury.

The jury were of the opinion that Bro Shejin Puthanpurayil demonstrated a master’s finesse over artistic design and communication by presenting the theme “Social Networks: Portals of Truth and Faith” (World Communiations Day Message 2013) in a very attractive and appealing way.

Such competitions, according to the jury, would help bringing the rich perspectives of the Catholic Church to young people who are interested in technology, art, media and communications. They said that such initiatives shall be encouraged.

The competition was organised by CONNECT, the Institute for new media education, communication and training. The ppt competition started to mark the 50th anniversary of Inter Mirifica, the renowned document that ignited communication and media revolution in the Catholic church would be held in this year too as informed by the organisers.

The theme of the competition opened for Catholic seminarians in India for the current year is the World Communications Day Message by Pope Francis, “Communication at the Service of an Authentic Culture of Encounter” (2014).
